Florida Watch - Flagging
Users may flag postings they believe to be in violation of craigslist guidelines, by clicking on one of the flagging links at the upper right corner of each posting:
no pet sales or breeding please -- rehoming with small adoption fee OK
So that is Craigslist rules. What should I flag:
1- All breeder ads. You will see puppies for sale or an ad for 1 pup but says "parents" on premises.
2- Any ad for a dog that is not fixed over 8 months old. Even if it's not a breeder you will do the person a favor. If it's a pure breed dog a breeder will buy them for breeding and the poor dog will suffer the rest of it's life in a cage. Email them to tell them why you flagged the ad and to fix their dog before selling. A breeder will send his grandma to get the dog so there is no problem getting the dog so checking out the buyer doesn't work.
3- Even ads that have puppies for free because that's just a backyard breeder who wants to dump the pups for one reason or another. If they can't sell them locally then there is something wrong.
4- Any puppy under 12 weeks old. This is a breeder who has one or two left unless there is a good story behind it. Most breeders keep their ads short and business like. Someone who made a bad buying decision will explain.
5- Watch for ads with headings: Pup - or Breed like Pit, or pure breed, your next best friend, cute Etc.
6- Also scam ads. Ones that say will go to the shelter tomorrow if not sold today. These people know some bleeding heart soul will buy the dog to save it. they get free dogs off CL and re-sell them this way.
7- Any ad that is looking for a breeding dog or mate.
1- start an email:
2- copy the breeder ads minus the pictures and past it into the email
3- address the email to :ABUSE@CRAIGS.ORG Subject : TO HELP DESK - 911
Just add a note that these are breeders and please block their IP address. I usually past 10 -20 ads in 1 email. This gets them off fast.
Remember, never flag a rescue or shelter ad unless you know it's a breeder hiding behind it.
